La Gelsomina – Tenuta Orestiadi
Walking slowly, with your eyes turned to the summit, the sinuous curves of Etna, you arrive in a place protected from the rest of the world, where the fog envelops all worries, which – with it – disappears.
A place where the wind leaves a fine lava dust that enriches the soil, giving it unique characteristics; a place where he guides the bunches of Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Carricante, Catarratto and Moscato dell’Etna to perfect ripeness.
Thus, between the lanes of Presa, a small hamlet in which the inhabitants lay the clothes of fellow citizens and become almost a tribe, “La Gelsomina” is born, a small jewel located on the edge of the Santa Venera river, where Piedimonte Etneo gives way to the County of Mascali.
On a lava and clayey soil, walking day after day on the “gghiara”, as the Etnei pronounce it, they have cultivated 15 hectares of vineyards, olive groves and orchards, which take the shape of an amphitheater, as if to invite anyone who crosses the gate to enjoy the immense spectacle that is Nature, which is replicated and renewed every day.
Since 2018, the arduous task of living fully and taking care of La Gelsomina has been held by Tenute Orestiadi, a reality in Gibellina (TP), which has opened its doors to curious and wine lovers.
