Destrovini is a held located in the prestigious DOC area of Etna born in 1897, to witness it is an inscription on the portal at the entrance of the estate.
The Company is managed on a family model by Destro since 2002 an is sited in a strip of land where viticulture has roots much older. The farmhouses, the manor house and the old mill date back to the end of the 19th century. The rural structures have been then in the years subject to restructuring and today they house equipment and instruments of vinification to the vanguard, to confirmation of the union between tradition and innovation.
What characterizes the Destro family is a great passion and a great attachment to this land, in a constant search for the enhancement of wines and their expression in relation to the terroir. In fact, it has chosen to cultivate native vines such as Nerello Mascalese and Carricante.
The vineyards of the Destro family fall into a land closely linked to its volcanic origins. To want to be specific, the estate is located on the last lava flow of the eruption of 1614 where the soil is rich in precious microelements and the crumbling of the lava and eruptive materials has formed soils with a skeleton of pumice of small size that provides a high drainage capacity.
In fact, the great heterogeneity of the soils, the minerality and the strong temperature variations affect the ripeness of grapes, from which are born fresh, full-bodied wines of good minerality, soft and intense.
Our Company is certified Bio. We produce red wines and classic method sparkling wine from Nerello Mascalese and a white from Carricante, white berried grape.
