It is not by chance that Terra Costantino was the first winery to be certified organic on Etna, on a time when the world had not yet discovered the extraordinary oenological microcosm of the Volcano. Behind this brand, in fact, stands the long history of the Costantino family, made of farming culture and love for the earth that more than forty years ago met an equally ancient and fascinating history of terroir. When Dino Costantino restored the vineyard of Contrada Blandano in Viagrande, where the winery stands today, he discovered that the extraordinary quality of the wines that spontaneously came from those 10 hectares on height, facing the Mediterranean sea, was the fruit of a tradition that was being renewed century by century, around a millstone of 1699.
Even if the family business was concentrated on different issues, that meeting between man and earth was a brainwave. The head-trained vines and the rows renewed by Dino on the lava terraces began to grow like his son Fabio, who is nowadays running the winery. He leads the company combining the rooted memory with a modern vision, which is always concentrated on an organic production and a global sustainability, accompanied by accuracy in production.
From this accuracy the quality DeAetna and Contrada Blandano wines were born- the first is a range of white, rosé and red wines thought to be the reflection of this terroir and its diversity – the Contrada Blandano wines are made with Carricante and Catarratto (the whites) and Nerello Cappuccio and Mascalese (the reds) which display the essence of the most mature vines of the estate.
